A B O U T M E
Leigh attended art school in Madison Wisconsin, with a focus on Graphic Design. Her coursework was broad, and included all forms of media: pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, gouache, pastels, life drawing, airbrush, life drawing and photography. The Graphic Design portion focused on graphic processes (taking the art from layout through printing), logo design, ad design, copywriting, design and color, and more.
Leigh started her art career doing graphic design as a freelance artist in Madison, then moved to Orlando, Florida for more job opportunities. She worked for advertising agencies and printing companies before opening her own graphic design business in 1990. In 1995 Leigh was introduced to Street Painting: the art of drawing huge murals on the sidewalk/pavement using soft pastels. Leigh has done more that 530 chalk drawings in the past 28 years and continues to teach this art form in schools in Florida, as well as schools all over the country. In 2020 Leigh started teaching Fine Art at her local Boys & Girls Club, and did so through the pandemic via Zoom. That's when she decided to open ALFREDSON ACADEMY OF ART and started teaching private lessons one-on-one and to small groups, both in the studio (map on the home page) and via Zoom. Leigh has students all over the country since Zoom has made teaching this way so easy. Leigh teaches drawing, painting, mixed media, assemblage, sculpture, clay, collage...and more. |
